'World of Boats' is a collection of nigh on 400 boats and 300 plus models with supporting archive from across the world and spanning many centuries. At its core is the former Exeter Maritime Museum collection of Ethnic, European coastal, Day Sailing and other interesting craft of historic significance.
The collection is in the process of being moved to the East Berwickshire fishing port of Eyemouth at the centre of the stunning scenic World Heritage East Coast Scottish Border landscape. Here the collection will be progressively restored and conserved as an asset of global significance.

Enjoy summer onboard the Oosterschelde

Dutch tallship the Oosterschelde has announced a new summer programme for this year that involves some beautiful voyages around the Hebrides (including St Kilda). During the voyages you would be sailing as much as possible, but there will also be time to go on land to explore the coasts, culture and animal life. As the Oosterschelde is smaller than some tall ships it benefits from being able to visit places that are not possible to be reached over land.

WAW! This ship sure looks amazing! I am planning a trip to Europe this summer, hopefully I can go on a cruise as well! This ship looks incredible- as if it was taken from another century! I sure must be amazing to go on on a cruise on such a ship :)

Now the Tall Ships' Races have been completed for this year, planning is already underway for the 2010 Races.
The Host Ports/Dates are as follows:
Aalborg, Denmark: 21st-24th July
Kristiansand, Norway: 29th July - 1st Aug
Hartlepool, UK: 7th-10th Aug

National Historic Ships is a Non Departmental Public Body advising the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport on national historic ship preservation and funding priorities. It also advises the Heritage Lottery Fund and other public funding bodies on preservation priorities and individual applications. It also acts as a focus for advice on aspects of the preservation of historic vessels and maintains the National Register of Historic Vessels.
