On a recent trip to the many secluded bays south of Tokyo, Japan, I was surprised to find the grand old yacht Cynara.
Apparently, she's been in Japan for 35 years. She's a 90ft Gaff Ketch built in l927 in Gosport
by Camper & Nicholson. But apart from that the present owners know little of her history. I would be interested to hear from anyone with information on this historic vessel.
Can you help? If you know more about the history of Cynara drop us a line at tallship@wildpublishing.com and we'll put you in touch with the reader.

I sent a note to tallship@wildpublishing.com and the address came back as an inactive mailbox.
Responding to the request for information of the Sailing Yacht, Cynara, I wrote:
Hoping that this is the same vessel, if I might, I would like to add some flavor to the history of the SY Cynara.
During the years of 1969 - 73 I was a boat captain (50 ton licensed at the time) for the Suffolk County Police Department, Long Island, New York, USA, assigned to operate the 37 foot Egg Harbor twin diesel police launch based in Port Jefferson on the north shore of Long Island.
In the summer of 1969 a 95' (possibly 90') sailing yacht anchored in the Port Jefferson harbor which I learned to be the SY Cynara.
I have some tales to share with the correspondent if you could put me in touch.
